Geobags & Geotubes

Geobag and Geotube® technology is used to protect shorelines, rebuilt beaches and create multifunction artificial reefs. They can be installed to provide a better swimming amenity, reduced water turbidity or wider beaches with improved sand quality.

The technology has been used for more than 50 years and has proven to be a cost-effective, durable, easy to install and highly flexible method for a variety of shoreline protection, onshore and offshore marine construction projects.

They also enhance habitats for marine life and can be co-engineered to replicate natural environments, drawing an abundance of local marine life while creating diving and snorkeling opportunities at the same time. The products are a much safer alternative than hard structures (rock and concrete) and are fabricated using specially engineered woven and composite fabric skins, to meet durability and environmental requirements.

Only few companies around the world specialize in this field, and Ecocoast is proud to be one of them. Ecocoast was responsible for the first sand-filled megacontainer installation in the United Arab Emirates in 2007, and since that time, has been (custom) designing and installing similar structures as an alternative method for coastal protection in various countries across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Ecocoast recently built an online calculator to assess Geotextile Sand Containers (GSC) stability that allows clients to create graphs from their own data, offering different scenarios that assess waves, GSC size and stability. Click here to have a look. Don't forget to bookmark the page!
