This morning we did a dive inspection of one of our coastal protection projects on a private island off the coast of Abu Dhabi. The project involved installing geocontainers for coastal protection, and included a semi-submerged breakwater and T-groyne, as well as a toe structure to create a perched beach.
The containers have been installed for 6 months, so we were expecting to see some good development.
Beyond confirming the structures are doing exactly what they should be, we were thrilled to see the amount of soft coral growth and a marine habitat developing, with a nice number of fish, including hamour, and crustaceans present.
