New Product Enhancement: Clasp Locker Technology for Marine Protection Barriers

Since our collaboration with The Ocean Cleanup in 2018, we have been experimenting with a number of product enhancements, such as clasp locker technology, aimed at increasing the strength and performance of our marine protection barriers. Our goal is to design and engineer the strongest and most effective marine barriers in the world, to enable marine protection in all environments.

The experience and the insights gained from designing and manufacturing an underwater marine protection system with the strength and flexibility to withstand the forces of the Pacific Ocean and North Sea open up a wealth of opportunities for marine protection barrier solutions in the harshest marine environments.

Clasp locker technology is our latest design iteration for our marine protection barrier range. This new, smart design approach enhances the usability, performance and connectivity of our marine protection barriers.

The technology is particularly effective in sensitive marine environments where complete impermeability is required between individual systems, as well as in high saline environments such as the Gulf due to its corrosion resistant and self-lubricating properties.

We designed and manufactured 588 meters of screen for The Ocean Cleanup’s System 001, consisting of around 49 panels using clasp locker technology. The panels withstood the rigorous tests in the North Sea, the Pacific Ocean trials and the extreme conditions in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

That is why today, we have started navigating the shift to clasp locker technology for our Ecobarrier Silt Curtains and Containment Booms.
