Maritime security

Maritime security, environmental monitoring, and the importance of local technical support emerged as key themes during Ecocoast’s participation in Saudi Maritime Congress 2026.

Held at the Jeddah Superdome from 21-22 October, the event brought together maritime operators, developers, contractors and government representatives. The focus was on the priorities shaping Saudi Arabia’s maritime sector.

Conversations on our constantly busy stand highlighted three areas of particular interest. Each reflects the practical challenges facing organizations that develop, protect and operate marine infrastructure across the Kingdom.

Maritime security remains a priority in Saudi Arabia

Security barriers generated significant interest at our stand, particularly among navy representatives and other organizations responsible for marine infrastructure.

These discussions highlighted the importance of physical protection systems. Ports, naval facilities and other sensitive waterfront assets need defending against unauthorized vessel access and potential security threats.

Floating security booms provide a physical barrier engineered around specific operational requirements. Operators can establish controlled boundaries while maintaining access where necessary.

The level of interest reinforced the relevance of purpose-engineered maritime security solutions like the DMS 1200. In ASTM F2766-11 crash testing in January 2026, it stopped a 3,850 kg boat travelling at 42 knots, absorbing 903 kJ of kinetic energy.

Growing interest in water quality monitoring

Water quality monitoring was another prominent topic. Visitors to our stand sought information about environmental sensors, monitoring buoys and the capabilities available through our partnership with Xylem.

Discussions focused on practicalities: sensor configurations, monitoring capabilities, and how equipment integrates into marine environments.

For port operators, coastal developers and environmental authorities, reliable water quality data supports environmental compliance. It also helps identify changing conditions and inform operational decisions.

Combining monitoring technologies with practical marine deployment expertise makes environmental data collection more accessible and effective across a range of applications.

Why local presence matters

Beyond individual technologies, one recurring theme was the importance of having reliable technical support available within Saudi Arabia.

Many delegates wanted to know more about our established manufacturing presence in the Kingdom. They also asked about local delivery, installation support, servicing and maintenance.

For organizations operating critical marine infrastructure, this local capability offers practical advantages. Those run from coordinating project delivery to maintaining equipment throughout its operational life.

As maritime infrastructure develops across Saudi Arabia, experienced local teams help reduce logistical complexity and support long-term asset performance.

Strengthening connections across Saudi Arabia’s maritime sector

The move to Jeddah brought opportunities to engage with a broad range of maritime stakeholders. These included naval representatives, government authorities, developers and major contractors.

These conversations gave us valuable insight into the operational priorities of organizations working across the Kingdom’s marine infrastructure sector. They also created opportunities to develop new relationships.

We have already confirmed our attendance at next year’s event. We look forward to continuing these discussions and supporting Saudi Arabia’s maritime sector with locally delivered solutions for marine protection, environmental monitoring and infrastructure resilience.
