FAQS

Ecocoast debris booms are designed to capture a wide variety of floating debris, including plastic waste, logs, tree branches, leaves, seaweed, reeds and other man-made trash. The booms effectively capture both surface and sub-surface debris. Their advanced flush-faced design ensures efficient collection of both natural and artificial debris, helping keep waterways clean and protect infrastructure from blockages and damage.

Ecocoast uses smart technologies to help clients make better environmental decisions. Their Water Quality Monitoring (WQM) buoys gather live data on pollution levels, while detailed reports support clients in meeting compliance and sustainability goals.

In Ecuador, Ecocoast works with Ichthion to reduce river-based plastic pollution using the Azure System in the Portoviejo River. Bolina Permanent Debris Booms guide waste to a central point, where it’s moved ashore by a conveyor for sorting and recycling. Sensors collect data to support decisions as part of the Clean Currents Coalition.

Ecocoast’s geotextile containers also called geotubes, protect shorelines from erosion while also supporting marine biodiversity. They provide a permeable, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional hard coastal structures. Placed on the seabed, they reduce wave impact and help form stable habitats for marine life like fish, corals and kelp, supporting ecosystem recovery in coastal areas.

Ecocoast supported the early development of The Ocean Cleanup’s technology by designing and manufacturing a 600-meter-long custom screen for System 001 in the UAE. This screen was deployed in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch as part of the world’s first large-scale ocean cleanup system. Our founders were present at the system's launch in San Francisco, underscoring our commitment to innovation in marine debris removal
Ecocoast also supplied Bolina Permanent Debris Booms for The Ocean Cleanup’s initial Interceptor models, aiding in the extraction of plastic directly from rivers.

Ecocoast can provide comprehensive CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) impact documentation to its clients. This includes quantifying the volume of plastic waste removed, calculating reductions in carbon footprint, and detailing community and environmental benefits delivered through their projects. These reports enable clients to showcase their measurable sustainability outcomes and promote transparency in environmental initiatives.

Real-time water quality monitoring enables Ecocoast to respond quickly to environmental challenges. By continuously tracking changes in water quality and debris levels to just name a few, their technologies help teams take timely action, reduce risks and improve the impact of clean-up efforts. This approach ensures that environmental protection measures are proactive and based on the latest data.
