Ecocoast 2026 Awards: Four Industry Recognitions
Ecocoast 2026 awards

Ecocoast, the UAE-based marine and coastal solutions company, has earned four industry recognitions so far in the second half of 2026. It reached the finals of the Global ESG Awards GCC 2026 and The Maritime Standard Awards 2026, and earned a place in Marine Technology Reporter’s MTR100. It also holds the UAE Impact Seal (Silver tier), and the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry is now recognizing it for that.

Each one looks at our work from a different angle – biodiversity, environmental protection, marine technology and community impact. Together, they reflect what we set out to do: build safer, cleaner and more sustainable coastlines and waterways.

Finalist: Global ESG Awards GCC 2026

Ecocoast is a finalist in the Global ESG Awards GCC 2026 in the Safeguarding Marine/Terrestrial Biodiversity category. Our entry focused on Advanced Mooring Systems – Ecoreef and Ecomoor – and how everyday coastal infrastructure can support marine life.

Ecoreef turns the traditional concrete mooring block into a working marine habitat. In a comparative trial in Fujairah, Ecoreef recorded 129 times more distinct fish per survey than traditional concrete mooring blocks. Ecomoor, our neutrally buoyant mooring line, stays clear of the seabed, so seagrass and the habitat around each mooring stay intact.

The awards ceremony takes place on 29 October 2026 at Al Habtoor Grand Resort, JBR, Dubai. Joachim de Jenlis, CEO, and Roelof Oosthuizen, CFO, will attend on behalf of the team.

Finalist: The Maritime Standard Awards 2026

Ecocoast is a finalist in The Maritime Standard Awards 2026, in the Environment Protection Award category. The TMS Awards recognize excellence across the maritime industry in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. The Maritime Standard will announce the winners on 10 November 2026 at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai.

Our entry was about one idea: Protecting the marine environment is part of the job, not an extra.

Protection at scale

Ecocoast deployed more than 1.3 million meters of marine barriers worldwide. This year alone, around 29,870 meters of silt curtains protected 51 construction sites, keeping turbidity within permitted limits. Oil containment booms provide standing protection at ports, terminals and facilities across the region. Our debris booms catch floating waste and debris in rivers before it reaches the sea.

Moorings that give back

Traditional mooring chains drag across the seabed and clear rings of seagrass and coral around each mooring. Ecomoor, our neutrally buoyant mooring line, stays off the seabed. It’s now in place on 306 moorings.

Ecoreef goes a step further and turns the mooring block itself into habitat. Off Fujairah, we have monitored an Ecoreef next to a traditional concrete mooring block since August 2025. Ecoreef supports soft corals, sponges and filter feeders, as well as snappers, groupers and emperors.

Projects that work with nature

On London’s River Lea, we designed a debris barrier that lets migrating silver eels pass through. In Sri Lanka, a Bolina debris boom on the Kelani River supports a UK Government-backed plastic monitoring program. In Wales, Ecomoor is part of the Natur am Byth! Môr seagrass trial.

People who know why it matters

Environmental training is part of every role at Ecocoast. That covers project inductions, monthly Ecoversity sessions, Xylem water quality training, and marine science interns from the American University of Sharjah and the University of Oxford working on live monitoring. We also give every employee one paid volunteer day a year.

Featured in the MTR100 2026

The 21st annual MTR100, published in the September/October 2026 issue of Marine Technology Reporter, features Ecocoast. The MTR100 profiles the companies, people and technologies shaping the global subsea sector and the magazine reaches readers in more than 120 countries.

Our profile covers how we protect, monitor and regenerate coastlines and waterways – from silt curtains and debris barriers to data buoys and security barriers. It also highlights Ecomoor’s first UK deployment in August, at Pwllheli in Wales, as part of the Natur am Byth! Môr programme to protect sensitive habitats, including seagrass.

Impact Seal: Recognized by the Umm Al Quwain Chamber

Ecocoast holds the Silver tier of the Impact Seal for the 2025–2027 cycle. The Impact Seal is awarded by Majra – National CSR Fund and is the UAE’s highest federal recognition for corporate social responsibility and sustainability. In this cycle, 114 organizations were recognized across the Platinum, Gold and Silver tiers.

The Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce and Industry is now recognizing Impact Seal holders in the emirate. It means a lot to us – our main factory is in Umm Al Quwain, and much of our team works there every day.

What these recognitions have in common

They all point to the same idea. Coastal and marine infrastructure can do more than one job. A mooring can hold a boat or buoy, and shelter fish. A barrier can keep a site safe and keep the water clean. A buoy can mark a channel and collect data that helps people manage the coast.

That is the thinking behind our 4Ds – Design, Develop, Deliver and Drive Change – and it runs through everything we make in our manufacturing facilities in Umm Al Quwain and Yanbu.

“These recognitions belong to every one of us at Ecocoast. That includes the people who design our solutions, the people who build them in our factories, and the crews who install them. It also includes the people who manage our projects, look after our clients, keep the business running, and share our story with the world. Thank you as well to our partners, the academia we work with and our clients, who trust us with their coastlines and waterways.”
– Joachim de Jenlis, CEO, Ecocoast
