Sludge Remediation in UK Dredging Project
EcoCoast

Case Study: Sludge Remediation During Dredging in the UK.

Excess sediment in waterways can clog channels, increase flood risk and harm ecosystems. A UK dredging project required a solution that minimized disruption while effectively managing sludge. Our Ecobag Dewatering Containers were deployed to pump sediment-laden water ashore. The geotextile containers allowed water to drain while trapping solids, transforming slurry into dewatered sediment or sludge.

This process reduced turbidity, allowing clean water to return safely to the environment. The resulting material was repurposed for land restoration, landscaping, agriculture or construction. The project demonstrated a sustainable, cost-effective and low-maintenance approach, adaptable to rivers, canals, lakes and marinas, delivering long-term environmental and operational benefits while turning what was once waste into a valuable resource.
