Sediment Control: Supporting the Al Marjan Island Bridge Project
Sediment control in the UAE

We’re proud to be part of a major infrastructure project in the UAE. We support sediment control during the construction of a mainland bridge to Al Marjan Island 3, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Soon, it will be home to the UAE’s first casino resort, operated by Wynn who runs casino hotel resorts in Las Vegas, Boston and Macau.

Our silt curtain installation and anchoring work is already underway, ensuring the surrounding marine environment remains protected while construction progresses. These measures play a critical role in reducing the spread of suspended sediments, helping maintain water quality around the project site.

ENGINEERING AND MARINE SERVICES WE CAN OFFER

In addition to on-site sediment control, we’re equipped to deliver engineering and marine services customized to the needs of each project. Our expertise spans the entire project lifecycle, from initial design and planning to installation and long-term maintenance. Whether you require technical support, environmental monitoring or recycling, we can provide specialized services as needed to ensure successful project outcomes.

Engineering capabilities

Our engineering capabilities include anchor design, concept development and material testing. We provide risk assessments to ensure solutions meet industry standards and site-specific conditions. We assist with documentation, including method statements, O&M manuals and tender documents. This gives you the technical foundation for successful project execution.

Engineering Services

Marine services offering

We offer a full range of marine services to support every stage of a project’s lifecycle, ensuring long-term performance and sustainability.

Our experienced team handles installation, supervision, monitoring and maintenance. We provide support throughout the entire project. We use advanced tools like satellite imagery to track environmental conditions. To ensure ongoing environmental compliance and operational efficiency, we also offer equipment rentals. This includes water quality monitoring solutions (WQM), such as turbidity monitoring, and workboats for on-site operations.

To extend the lifespan of marine barriers, we offer repair services. Our mobile workshop provides on-site repairs for damaged marine barriers. This allows us to restore them quickly, minimizing downtime. It also reduces the need for replacements.

For projects that require adjustments, we provide relocation services. We move existing marine barriers to new sites where environmental protection is needed. At the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project, our relocation services helped maintain environmental protection. Learn more about this project and our approach HERE.

When barriers are no longer in use, we manage their removal. We ensure proper storage for future deployment or recycle them. Through our recycling program, we recover and reuse materials in the production of new assets. This reduces waste and promotes circularity.

💡💡💡 From installation to recycling, our turnkey approach delivers complete lifecycle support. We ensure durable, sustainable and cost-effective marine solutions.

WHY TURBIDITY MONITORING MATTERS

A key part of our sediment control strategy is turbidity monitoring. This process involves measuring the clarity of water to track sediment levels and ensure compliance with environmental standards. By continuously monitoring turbidity levels, we can:

✅ Detect sediment plumes early and mitigate their spread.
✅ Ensure regulatory compliance throughout the construction process.
✅ Protect marine ecosystems from the harmful effects of increased turbidity.

We offer water quality monitoring buoys to track turbidity and dissolved oxygen at project sites. These buoys support long-term deployment with minimal maintenance while providing quick data delivery. They allow real-time monitoring without the need to send technicians into the field, offering a much safer, more cost-efficient alternative to traditional water quality measurements via boat patrols. This remote data collection also enables continuous monitoring during adverse conditions like storms, ensuring uninterrupted oversight of water quality.

SUPPORTING COMPLEX MARINE PROJECTS

At every stage, our team brings technical expertise and innovative solutions to complex marine environments. Whether it’s anchor design, real-time turbidity monitoring or product maintenance, we customize our services to meet the unique demands of each project.

FAQS

Ecocoast provides a complete suite of sediment-control solutions to protect marine environments during construction. These include:

● Engineering services – Such as sediment transport modelling and hydrodynamic analysis to support environmentally sound project design.
● Silt curtains – Deployed to contain suspended sediments and prevent their spread into surrounding waters.
● Marineforce software – Used to engineer silt curtain performance based on site-specific conditions like waves, currents and sediment behavior.
● Turbidity monitoring services – A recent addition, offering real-time data to verify compliance and environmental protection.
● Marine services – Including installation, inspection and maintenance of silt curtains and other marine protection systems.

These integrated offerings help reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance and protect sensitive ecosystems during marine and coastal construction.

Ecocoast offers comprehensive engineering support as part of its sediment-control solutions. This includes site-specific design, modelling and performance optimization using tools like Marineforce software. Services cover everything from anchor design and sediment transport modelling to risk assessments and method statements, ensuring the system is effective, compliant and tailored to local conditions.

Post‑installation services include:
● Supervision, monitoring and routine maintenance
● Equipment rentals (e.g., turbidity monitoring instruments, workboats)
● On-site repairs via a mobile workshop to minimize downtime
● Barrier relocation when project footprints change
● Final removal, storage or recycling of barriers at project close‑out

Turbidity monitoring continuously measures water clarity in real time to detect sediment plumes as they form during marine construction. Using sensors, Ecocoast measures and logs turbidity levels continuously. This allows early intervention if thresholds are exceeded, helps demonstrate compliance with environmental regulations, and protects sensitive marine habitats from harmful sedimentation.

Ecocoast deploys smart water-quality monitoring buoys equipped to measure key parameters like turbidity and dissolved oxygen. Built for long-term marine use with minimal maintenance, these buoys transmit real-time data directly to shore-based systems. This enables continuous environmental monitoring, reduces the need for manual sampling, and ensures reliable data collection, even during adverse weather conditions.

Yes. Ecocoast provides full lifecycle support for sediment-control barriers, including relocation and removal services. As marine construction zones shift, we can move silt curtains or containment booms to new areas needing protection. At project completion, we offer removal services with options for storage, reuse or environmentally responsible recycling, ensuring flexibility and sustainability throughout the project.
