Case Study: Keeping Waterways Clear with Bolina Permanent Debris Booms

In Norland, Canada, our client needed a solution to prevent water-carried debris from clogging the water intake screen. Traditional debris booms were not effective and posed risks of damage to floats.

We installed a Bolina Permanent Debris Boom PDB600, a 20-meter boom with a roller compensator to match varying water levels. The PDB600, featuring a unique flush face for laminar deflection, effectively handles various debris types, funneling them into a collection area for easy extraction. The boom’s design and materials, including patented kite-shaped floats, ensure durability and minimal maintenance requirements.

The client was highly satisfied with the PDB600 installation. Its self-clearing flush front design prevents debris buildup and the unique buoyancy floats offer maximum protection. Workboats can easily manoeuver along the boom, simplifying debris removal without risking damage. The PDB600 proved to be a long-term, maintenance-free solution for keeping Norland’s waterways clear.
